Funeral Fees and Offerings

Church Offering
Suggested offering of $500 – check payable to St. John’s Church.

Clergy Offering
Suggested offering of $300-500 – check payable to St. John’s Church with Rector’s [or Curate’s] Discretionary Fund in memo line.

Organist Fee
$250 – check payable to St. John's Church with Carol Weitner, Organist in memo line.

Musician Contracting Fee - If outside musicians are required, a contracting fee of $75 is required payable to St. John's Church. Outside musicians fees will be passed along to the family and they can be paid directly by check.

Sexton Fee
$0 – service/reception that ends on weekday by 3:00 p.m.
$200 – after-hours service/reception, for the first 4 (four) hours, minimum. After 4 hours, additional fee of $50 per hour.
Check payable St. John’s Church with Sexton in the memo line.

Please Note: All fees and offerings should be in the office prior to the service. The church and clergy offerings are tax deductible.

The altar flowers from Sunday may be used if the service is held early in the week or on Saturday; otherwise the family is responsible for providing altar flowers. The church often uses Main Street Florist, Huntington, 631-271-0160, for altar flowers.

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.
