Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper & Palm Burning
Tuesday, February 21, 6 pm
Bleecker Hall, St. John's Church
Sometimes called Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the beginning of Lent. It represents a last hurrah of excess before many people choose to take on special disciplines for 40 days. Lenten practices of giving things up, or taking things on, help us to connect with God. As begin our Lenten journey, come together and have a fun and festive meal. After dinner, we will burn last year's palms to use in our Ash Wednesday service.
We also need some enthusiastic pancake flippers to help make this night a success. Traditionally this effort was led by the men of the church, but all people are welcome. Please email Mary Beth ([email protected]) to volunteer. Volunteers will arrive between 5 & 5:30 pm.
