Outdoor Way of the Cross

5pm, Friday, March 29

We will gather at St. John's Parish house for an outdoor remembrance of Jesus's final days. It will take the form of the traditional Stations of the Cross, a traditional Lenten devotional.

This walk is designed to be accessible for both children and adults. The walk will be at a slow place, up in the St. John's pond preserve.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.
