Acolyte Training

Acolyte Training
11:15 AM, Sunday, November 12, 2023

Are you a young person who has been confirmed in our church? Do you want a more hands-on role in our worship services? Have you considered becoming an acolyte?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions join us for acolyte training for this coming year! Veteran acolytes are also welcome for a refresher.

Acolytes are the young people who assist in worship by carrying the cross, helping the clergy proclaim the gospel, and receiving the offering each Sunday. Acolytes are scheduled as frequently as they are available, so you can avoid seasons when you are in sports or have other conflicts. As we head back to a more normal schedule we would love to have more young people participate more fully in our worship services as acolytes. RSVP here to let us know to expect you.

To sign up, or if you have any questions, just come along, or email [email protected].

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
