A Letter from Pere Michaud, Our Partner

Dear Friend in Christ Risen,

It is a pleasure and a privilege for me to address you on this special event, May 7, 2023.

I present to you the greetings from your people in Deslandes, particularly from the parishioners, teachers, students, the staff of the school, and my own greetings to you.

I want to thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for Deslandes. Thank you so much for accepting to work very closely with me to make things change, to make St. Mathias School one of the best quality schools, where the children do not need to cross the dangerous river to continue their classes. Without your unconditional supports, this dream will not become true. We are very grateful for all.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the funds you have already sent for the teachers for the year 2022- 2023 which permit us to pay the teachers for some months.

Nowadays, life becomes more and more difficult in Haiti. Parents become poorer and poorer and very vulnerable. People cannot eat, cannot pay even a minimum for their kids at school. Certainly, without your support, the children in Deslandes will not have access at school. They will stay at home and that would be very dangerous like the others who create insecurities in the country.

In this case, we always please count on you as we prepare for the year 2023-2024.

One of the issues I am facing, the batteries for the electrical system which have about 5 or 6 years of service, needs to be changed even though we always make maintenance. We would love if you could help us to replace the existing batteries.

We really know you have a lot to do and we are very grateful for this system you gave us. Everybody is very happy for that.

On a positive note, I would like to announce, we are almost finish with the completion of the latrine.

Looking forward to hearing from you, Brothers and Sisters.

Wishing you a good event.

Pere MICHAUD,
Priest in Charge, St. Matthias School and Church

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

“If you are seeking after God, together we might find them.”

Seeking after God is one of the principle marks of Christian discipleship. Christians look for God, and find God, in all parts of life, but sometimes it helps to have company. That’s what the church is for. We are the fellowship of those who seek to find Jesus in their lives. We are companions in life and in the spiritual journey.

Join us in seeking God together.
