Youth Pilgrimage to Taizé and Rome - February 2020

We are so excited to be partnering with Christ Church, Bronxville and Christ's Church, Rye on a Pilgrimage for High Schoolers to the ecumenical Taizé monastery in France. Taizé is Christian community with a specific mission to reach young people around the world. Coming to Taizé is to be invited to search for communion with God through community prayer, song, silence, personal reflection and sharing. Join us for this transformative experience!

Our travel dates will be Thursday, February 13th to Sunday, February 23rd. We'll be headed to Rome for the first few days before headed to Taizé on Monday, February 17th. Cost for the trip was $2,600 in 2019 and we expect it to be similar this year. St. John's is able to bring up to five youth on this trip. If you are worried about the cost, talk to us about making a fundraising plan and possible opportunities.

Important Dates:

October 7: Registration begins

October 28: Registration closes, $500 non-refundable deposit due

January 6: Full payment due

February 2: Mandatory pre-trip meeting (10 AM Eucharist, Commissioning of Pilgrims, meeting after church with parents)

February 13: Flight to Rome

February 17: Flight to France, Bus to Taizé

February 23: Flight to New York

March 22: Taizé Recap Dinner with Parents

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.
