Summer Regathering at St. John's Church
Weekly Worship
At its meeting last week the Vestry approved a limited and phased approach to regathering as a congregation after July 1. From Sunday, July 5 until the start of our program year we look forward to welcoming the congregation back to the church for worship and prayer.
First, if you are of advanced age, immuno-compromised, are feeling ill or have a fever, please for your health and the well-being of others join us for worship online at stjcsh.org/live.
On Sundays at 8 am we will host a service of Morning Prayer on the bluestone patio overlooking the pond edge. For those who wish to come to the service, please join us by bringing a chair and find a spot on the patio for worship while maintaining six-feet of social distance. We ask that all coming to church wear a mask. The congregation will be limited in size to keep everyone safe. We would love to get a sense of how many will join us for worship, so please let us know by using this google form. Bulletins will be available online for worship together, but not in print at the service.
Our online Sunday worship service will be streamed at 9 am rather than 10 am. Bulletins will be available online. The summer 9 am worship service will include music and will be followed by a virtual coffee hour at 11 am.
Beginning July 8, we are also pleased to add a service of Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm. It will also be on the bluestone patio with the same precautions as our Sunday morning service. Please bring a chair and join us for prayer. Bulletins will be available online.
During this time we will be opening the church for private prayer for individuals Monday through Thursday from 9 am until 3 pm. We ask that all who come to pray also wear masks and help us to keep the space safe by wiping down your seat and any surfaces that you touch. The Parish Hall will still be closed at this time and there will be no access to the offices or bathrooms.
Pastoral rites
A note that we are also able at this time to resume pastoral rites such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals limited by the state guidelines for occupancy. For those hoping to reschedule pastoral rites, please reach out to Sue Waiter ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
