Mothers Day Bach Cantata
St. John’s Church Choirs continued their annual tradition of presenting one of Bach's cantatas during the 10 am Morning Prayer service on Mother's Day. This year featured Cantata #66 - Erfreut euch, ihr Herzen (Rejoice, all ye hearts) - a festive cantata written for Easter.
This magnificent work included the Choir, soloists Chelsea Laggan, Edmund Milly and Bryce Westervelt, as well as an orchestra of period instruments consisting of strings, oboes, bassoon and organ. Our Music Director Steven Finch conducted, and preached on the background and meaning of the cantata.
The Choirs did an outstanding job interpreting the text and the whole service was a triumph. Enjoy the Video below.
