Long Island Sound, Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Sunday, February 12, 2022
3:00 PM, St. John's Church

Recognized internationally for its "swinging rhythm section, tight vocals, and smooth blend", the LIU Post Long Island Sound Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a 16-singer ensemble with rhythm section that performs vocal arrangements of jazz standards such as those made famous by The New York Voices; Manhattan Transfer; Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross; Rare Silk; Singers Unlimited; and The Real Group.

Under the direction of Jennifer Scott Miceli, this ensemble has performed at numerous venues including the prestigious Montreux and Vienne Jazz Festivals, the world famous Jazz á Juan Festival on the French Riviera, the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan, and throughout much of New York State.

Among its strengths is a commitment to stylistic integrity that includes vocal improvisation, vocal-instrumental interplay, and creative input from its members. The Long Island Sound Vocal Jazz Ensemble is highly professional in its presentation; the group maintains jazz tradition with a subtle, modern flair that delights and communicates.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

“If you are seeking after God, together we might find them.”

Seeking after God is one of the principle marks of Christian discipleship. Christians look for God, and find God, in all parts of life, but sometimes it helps to have company. That’s what the church is for. We are the fellowship of those who seek to find Jesus in their lives. We are companions in life and in the spiritual journey.

Join us in seeking God together.
