Annual Meeting 2018
This past Sunday St. John’s held its Annual Meeting accompanied by unprecedented attendance and interest. The Annual Meeting is required by canon and by the religious incorporation law of the State of New York for the reporting of fiscal health and the election of members of the Vestry and Vestry Wardens.
This year’s annual meeting agenda included those official acts, the election of Jeremy Bradford, James Sanna and Mary Gay Townsend to a renewable 3 year term each, the re-election of Vasana Hildebrand to a second 3 year term and the election of James Wylie to a second 2 year term as Warden, as well as reports from the leadership of several committees, and our treasurer. Additional announcements included a special moment of thanks for Mark Hopkinson's incredible leadership as a Vestry member, Senior Warden, Stewardship and Outreach Chairperson at the conclusion of his terms of service.
For those unable to be present a link to the slide show is here. The printable report of the Annual Meeting is also here.
I presented, perhaps as expected, on the role of vocation and mission and our progress on the 5 points of mission outlined in our Fireside Chats: Offering compelling and beautiful worship, supporting our families across the life-cycle, becoming a more connected community, reaching out our neighbors in need and becoming more active stewards of our environmental gifts. As in the chats, these resonated warmly.
After the formal remarks presenters entertained questions from the floor. Questions ranged from specifics about financial health and our concerns about moving from giving to pledging in support of mission, how we can present ourselves for more filming, and the future of our Christmas Fair.
The spirit was warm, inviting and transparent. Thank you all for your attendance and attention.
