2023 Vestry Nominations

Dear Friends,

Consistent with St. John's Church By-Laws, the Nominating Committee has selected Senior Warden and Vestry candidates for terms beginning July 2023.

The Election of these candidates to the Vestry will be held at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 23, 2023. The Nominating Committee is led by Anne Pace and consists of parishioners Trudy Calabrese, Tom Carrol, and outgoing Vestry Member Sue Collins. After soliciting input from the Parish and prayerful deliberation these are our choices to stand in the election.

Please feel free to contact Anne with any questions ([email protected]) about the following nominees:

  • The Senior Warden serves a two-year term that is renewable once. The Candidate for Senior Warden is Billy Wresch.
  • Lindsay Kamdar is standing for a renewable three-year term as a member of the vestry.

Brief biographies appear below.

Billy Wresch

Billy was born and raised in Astoria, New York, and has one older sister. He has been a member of St John’s since 2010. Billy graduated from Pace University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He started his career as a Fixed Income Securities trader and later became a bond broker. He then transitioned into the electrical and industrial automation business and became both president and equity partner in the largest independent supplier on Long Island. He is currently a senior vice president at one of the nation’s largest women-owned businesses in that same industry. Billy sits on the board of an industry buying group and is a committee member in multiple trade organizations.

Billy began serving St. John’s Church as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lector and is still active in both. Billy served on the Vestry for six years. He served the last two as Treasurer and prior to that he served as Altar Guild Chair. He remains an active member on the Investment Committee. Billy has served on Hunger and Outreach, Vestry Nominating Committees, and various other volunteer activities as well.

Billy and his wife Anna live in Cold Spring Harbor. They have two older sons that live locally, and a mini goldendoodle named Sophie. They also split time between CSH and Chelsea for as many weekends as they can squeeze in. In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking, sailing, gardening, house restoration, and hiking.

Lindsay Kamdar

Lindsay was born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She has two older sisters who live in Ohio and Massachusetts. Her parents still live in Grosse Pointe. Lindsay and her husband, Dev, have three sons in the CSH School District. Owen (10) is in 5th grade, Anand (8) is in 2nd grade, and Kiran (5) is in Kindergarten. Before having children, Lindsay was a third grade teacher and a math interventionist in Chicago and Detroit. Today, Lindsay enjoys being involved in various committees in the community. She was President of the Executive Board at the Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School for two years, is on the Board at the North Shore Holiday House, and loves playing tennis, paddle, and skiing most weekends in the winter.

After moving to Lloyd Harbor in the summer of 2017, Lindsay began attending services at St. John’s. She and her family became more active in the parish after that, officially joining the church in 2019. Lindsay is enjoying her first year on the Outreach Committee at St. John's and she and her family have embraced the participation opportunities through Outreach, such as Community Solidarity. She looks forward to enhancing her experience at St. John’s through the Vestry.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

“If you are seeking after God, together we might find them.”

Seeking after God is one of the principle marks of Christian discipleship. Christians look for God, and find God, in all parts of life, but sometimes it helps to have company. That’s what the church is for. We are the fellowship of those who seek to find Jesus in their lives. We are companions in life and in the spiritual journey.

Join us in seeking God together.
